Privacy Policy

Finance Manifesto is a personal finance and markets publication run from India. This page explains, in plain terms, what we collect when you visit financemanifesto.com, why, and what you can do about it.

What we actually collect

Like most websites, we get basic visit data automatically — your IP address, roughly where you’re browsing from, what browser and device you’re on, which pages you read, and how you got here. We use Google Site Kit to track this, which is Google Analytics under the hood.

If you email us, subscribe to updates, or leave a comment, we get whatever you type in — usually just a name and email address. We don’t sell that to anyone. We use it to reply to you, or to send the newsletter you signed up for.

The advertising cookies

We run ads through Google AdSense, and that’s the part of this policy that actually matters most, so we’re not going to bury it in legal language. Google and the advertisers it works with use cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to decide which ads to show you, based on this site and others you’ve visited. That’s how ad-supported sites like this one stay free to read.

If you’d rather not see ads tailored to you, you have real options:

Turn off personalized ads directly through Google’s Ads Settings. For opting out of other ad networks beyond Google, aboutads.info covers most of them in one place. If you’re browsing from the EU or UK, youronlinechoices.eu is the equivalent. You can also just block cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as smoothly.

Google’s own rules for how it and its partners handle this data are laid out in its advertising policy, if you want the full detail straight from them.

Who else sees your data

Beyond Google (for analytics and ads), we don’t hand your data to other third parties. Ad partners within Google’s network may independently collect data through the ad placements themselves — that’s governed by their own privacy policies, not ours, and outside our control once an ad loads.

Your rights

If you’re in the EU or UK, GDPR gives you the right to see, correct, or delete the data we hold on you. If you’re in California, CCPA gives you similar rights. If you’re in India, the same applies broadly under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. In practice, this means: email us and we’ll sort it out. We’re a small publication, not a data broker, so these requests get handled by a person, not a ticketing system.

Kids

This site is written for adults managing their own money. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13, and if we find out we have, we’ll delete it.

Questions

Email support@financemanifesto.com and we’ll get back to you. If we change anything meaningful in this policy, we’ll update the date at the top rather than pretend nothing changed.
